Recycled Inherited Gold Stacking Ring Set Commission
The recycled gold for this stacking ring set was from a large collection that my client inherited from her mother. Unfortunately non of it was particularly to her taste, but she wanted to keep some of it for sentimental reasons. She brought in 3 9ct gold rings and a 9ct gold pendant set with garnets. I melted the gold down and formed it into square wire to make the shanks and then textured them. I also made bezel settings by hand for the oval garnet and 2 round diamonds. Lastly I created a bulbous heart from the gold. This was soldered to a handmade silver band for contrast, along with a silver beaded ring. There was a small amount of gold and the square garnets left from the pendant and these were returned to the client for future use. Without this process the jewellery would have just sat in a drawer unloved and unworn, but now it can be a beautiful keepsake of a loved one.
Prices for recycled jewellery start around £250 depending on what you have to work with and what design you would like. A ring set like this would cost around £300, but all commissions will be priced individually.
