It was such a joy to be asked to design this organic platinum and diamond engagement ring because both the bride-to-be and I were in for a surprise. I was approached by a lovely guy from Cumbria who wanted a very organic twist style platinum engagement ring design and had picked me out especially for my nature inspired style. I worked with him remotely over the phone and email and came up with this sleek design, inspired by long grasses. He wanted the central diamond to be from an inherited ring and I created a setting with the ends of the grasses gently sweeping round it.

Once the ring was created he made an appointment to come and collect the ring with his fiancée. She had no idea where they were going and it was only when they arrived that it was revealed that we knew each other. She was a jewellery buyer from one of the galleries I supply and had been a fan of my work for many years! I'd met and chatted to her at lots of exhibitions over the years and she'd bought herself several of my pieces. He knew how much she loved my work and this was such a huge compliment that they would pick me over any of the hundreds of jewellery designers she had worked with.

After the wedding they sent me the most breathtaking photos of their intimate wedding in Cumbria, displaying their love of nature. Doesn't it look fabulous?
