This mountain shaped engagement ring was inspired by the couples love of hiking. When they visited me in my Chester jewellery workshop and asked me to design a bespoke engagement ring that told their story I knew at once that I would like to create something very striking. l wanted to create all the drama of the great British countryside, representing the mountains of Snowdonia, where the proposer worked as a mountain guide. They were also keen to incorporate an emerald into the design and this gave me the opportunity to add the perfect pop of colour to represent the greens of the countryside. The pear shaped emerald is held securely inside a frame of 18ct white gold, so any knocks to the surface of the ring do not affect the stone. I produced sketch drawings to present the idea and then proceeded to CAD drawings to give a more realistic view before working in 18ct gold.
